Trickdraw

Trickdraw is a card game about magic cowboys and card flipping. Players play cards face up to gain special powers or face down for points, or to hide a powerful ability and spring it on their opponents later. Look for combos and flip down your opponent’s cards in a race for the most points. Points will win you the game, but all tied players lose, so be sure you can out-shoot your rivals.

My Thoughts

  • Quick game play and very easy rules.
  • Well balanced take-that mechanics, removing abilities from an opponent is giving them points.
  • Instant win condition occurs too often, overshadowing the more interesting end game showdown.
  • Satisfying to build a tableau that lets you play or use a bunch of cards in one turn.
  • King-making opportunities can arise, but not as problematic in such a short game.
  • Type of card game you might immediately play a second time after it ends.
  • Oversized box for an otherwise pocket sized game, which is just a deck of cards.
